Walking together
BURLINGTON, Ont. – The first weekend in November held on to the beautiful fall weather Southern Ontario saw in the month of October. And, with grateful hearts for the good weather and opportunity for fellowship, over 50 members of various Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) East Region congregations met at Dundas Valley Conservation Area for the first of hopefully many Walking Together events.
This morning of walking and encouraging each other was organized by the pastors of Trinity Lutheran in Fisherville (Rev. Andrew Cottrell) and Prince of Peace Lutheran in Burlington, (Rev. David Zakel). A family event, designed to welcome the whole body of believers, was attended by members of LCC congregations, ranging in age from four months to 70 years.
Once the walking portion of the event was finished, participants were welcomed back to Prince of Peace for pizza and fellowship. The ladies’ group from Trinity generously provided the lunch.
After lunch, everyone gathered upstairs for worship. Rev. Saulo Bledoff, of St. John in Snyder, gave an impromptu presentation on his life in Brazil, as well as a presentation centered on the theme of “Walking Together.” Rev. Zakel led the vespers service, and again focused on the theme of walking together as Christian brothers and sisters—the family of Christ knit together by His Word and Sacraments.
