CLTS Professor William Mundt retiring
ST. CATHARINES, Ontario – Rev. Dr. William F. Mundt, longtime Associate Professor of Theology at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS—St. Catharines, Ontario), is retiring from full-time service.
Dr. Mundt was active in the seminary’s early days from 1975-1986, first in preliminary meetings leading to its formation and then as adjunct faculty member (having taught at one time Hebrew and Old Testament Bible courses in addition to regular Evangelism classes). In 1986 he moved to Germany to continue studies, but returned to teach at the seminary a few times in the 1990s. Dr. Mundt entered into full-time service at the seminary in August 2000, when he joined the faculty to teach dogmatics and evangelism.
After fifteen years of teaching at CLTS, serving also at various times as Academic Dean, Dean of Students, Director of Field Education, Vicarage, and Placement, and Director of Development, Dr. Mundt is retiring from full-time service at the seminary though not from ministry to the church in Canada.
CLTS’ Board of Regents, faculty, and staff honoured Dr. Mundt with a festival dinner on Friday May 29, at which a crowd of 65 friends and colleagues gathered to celebrate his service. Speaking at the event were CLTS Board of Regents’ Chairman Robert Krestick, Lutheran Church–Canada East District President Rev. Paul Zabel, faculty colleague Rev. Dr. Wilhelm Torgerson, and CLTS President Emeritus Jonathan Grothe.
The next day at the seminary’s annual call service, CLTS President Thomas Winger invoked the Word of God and prayer to bid farewell and Godspeed to Dr. Mundt.
