EDMONTON – Rev. Dr. Edwin Lehman, President Emeritus of Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC), has been admitted to the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton and is undergoing treatment for an infection.

“I encourage pastors, deacons, and people from our member congregations across the country to name him in their public and private prayers during these days,” said LCC President Robert Bugbee.

At this point it is unclear how long he will remain in hospital, but ABC District President Don Schiemann reports him to be in good spirits and grateful for the prayer support of God’s people. Dr. Lehman was Lutheran Church–Canada’s first president following its founding convention twenty-six years ago. He served in the position from 1988 until 1996.
