Lutheran pastor and son set world record for heaviest vehicle pull
COBOURG, Ont., Canada – Reverend Kevin Fast, a Lutheran Church–Canada pastor in Cobourg, and his son Jacob Fast, 18, celebrated Father’s Day by pulling two fire trucks 30 metres down Queen Street in Cobourg in 38 seconds as hundreds of people cheered them on—setting the world record for Heaviest vehicle pulled by two people while raising funds for Habitat for Humanity Northumberland.
The Guinness world record for the heaviest aircraft pulled by a man was set by Kevin Fast (Canada), who pulled a CC-177 Globemaster III, weighing 188.83 tonnes (416,299 lb), a distance of 8.8 m (28 ft 10.46 in) at Canadian Forces Base in Trenton, Ontario, Canada.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the heaviest house pulled by an individual; it weighed 35.9 tonnes (79,145 lb) and was achieved by Kevin Fast (Canada) who pulled the house a distance of 11.95 metres (39 ft 2.47 in) in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada.
Fast said the spectators who came out to watch the event really pumped him up and helped the pair pull off the “superhuman feat”.
“The crowd plays a huge part because it’s hard to release adrenaline at the drop of a hat,” said Fast. “When you hear people cheering, it gets released and things move.”
For an encore, the reverend lifted 20 people on a platform on his back at the pier.
Officials from “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” were also on the scene to film the record-breaking attempt.
Fast also set a world record in 2009 by pulling a 189-tonne Globemaster military transport aircraft at CFB Trenton, Ont.
