National Youth Gathering 2016: Bringing Living H20 to the people!
FISHERVILLE, Ontario – On February 20, 2016, the chairperson for the 2016 National Youth Gathering (NYG), Tony Marchand, spoke to confirmation students in the East District at the Confirmation Retreat sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church (Fisherville, Ontario). Tony spoke about the opportunity that they would have to join LCC youth from across Canada at the Living H20 National Youth Gathering that will take place July 8-12, 2016 at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Rev. Mark Danielson (former NYG committee member in 2010 and 2013) and Rita Rickus (NYG registrar 2013 and 2016) were present as well and helped Mr. Marchand share information about the speakers, location, and overall excitement which youth can be part of by attending this upcoming Gathering. The youth were given a video sneak peek at some of the Gathering’s presenters: Dr. Micah Parker (main speaker), Jennifer Jade Kerr (musician), and These Guys (entertainment troupe).
In addition to the main presenters who have been mentioned, the NYG committee is thrilled to welcome Rev. Scott Gamble, who will be filling in as chaplain in Rev. Glenn Worcester’s absence. Rev. Scott Gamble had previously been scheduled to serve as emcee for the event. With his change in position, the committee is pleased to welcome one of its own members, Deacon Amanda Hastings, to serve as MC during the main sessions.
The NYG committee encourages those groups interested in attending the National Youth Gathering this summer to please register soon as possible. Registration closes April 30, 2016, and accommodations cannot be guaranteed after that date. If you or someone you know would like more information about the Gathering, please visit the website www.nyg16.ca or contact Chairperson Tony Marchand via email at tmarchand@intown.net. He will be able to guide you to the information you are looking for or put you in contact with a committee member near you.
