Pastor embraces role as Armed Forces chaplain

WINDSOR, Ontario – A local man installed Sunday as a Canadian Forces chaplain says he’s taking on this role to speak to a flock beyond his own.

Rev. Gerson Flor was installed Sunday morning at First Lutheran Church on Giles Boulevard. He’d served the church in the past as an assistant pastor but turned to the military a year ago to gain a new perspective.

“As a Lutheran pastor, we serve our church, we speak to our people,” he said.

“I wanted to get an insight into more secular Canadian society and how to minister to them.”
