Restructuring document updated
WINNIPEG – Following the December 14 publication of documents needed by congregations to ratify Lutheran Church–Canada’s new Constitution, two editorial errors were identified in the two-column comparison between the new and old constitutions and have been corrected. Both errors were noted at the convention and changed but were not corrected in the edition sent to congregations.
An email to Synod members from Pastor Nolan Astley notes that “the previous version of this file has been removed and a corrected version has been posted.”
The corrections are:
- Removal of the word “must” from before the word “accepts” in the opening line in Article II – Confession. At some point in the editorial process leading up to the Convention this word was errantly inserted into this Article. There is no need to insert an imperative into this sentence as the Synod is made up of those who accept its Confession.
- Correction of the word “districts” in Article X 3 Ecclesiastical Authority of the President to read “regions.”
Direct any questions about this change or other matters related to the congregational ballot phase on the amendments to the Synodical Constitution to Rev. Nolan Astley.
The deadline for congregations to submit their vote is April 16. Ballots may be submitted electronically or by mail, but those sent by mail must be postmarked no later than April 17, 2018.
