Rev. Kraemer marks ordination anniversary

EDMONTON – July 19 marked 25 years of pastoral ministry for Rev. Jonathan Kraemer. All Saints Lutheran Church, where he serves, recognized that milestone on July 23 with prayers and readings by Rev. Dr. John Maxfield during the service and with a reception after church. It was a time to give thanks to God for the privilege and joy of serving and for the opportunity to care for God’s people.

Rev. Kraemer received his formation for ministry at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton, during which time he served his vicarage in Vanderhoof, B.C. from 1995-1997. He was ordained in 1998 at Peace Lutheran Church in Trail, B.C., where he served for five years. After three years of graduate school at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, he accepted the call to be Assistant Professor of Exegetical Theology and Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton, where he served from 2006-2016. At that time, he returned to parish ministry and has been serving at All Saints since.

Rev. Kraemer has served in various ways in Lutheran Church–Canada, including as Circuit Counsellor for the Kootenay and Edmonton Circuits. He also has served as Pastoral Counsellor for the LWMLC ABC District and the Concordia Zone. The care of pastors is a special focus for him and has led to the planning of Respite Retreats. A life-long learner, Rev. Kraemer has studied hymnody, pastoral care, interim ministry, and continues to pursue further studies.
