Trinity Winkler celebrates anniversaries

WINKLER, Man. – On October 29, 2022, the members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winkler held a special potluck dinner to celebrate two milestone anniversaries: 125 years since its first gathering as a congregation (the anniversary should have been marked in 2021 but wasn’t possible due to the pandemic), and 25 years in the new building.

As part of the evening, letters were read from Regional Pastor David Haberstock, and former pastors Rev. Barry Wood (1990-1993) and Rev. Fraser Coltman (1994-2002, pastor at the time of the building project). Letters were also read from seven of the former vicars who have served under current pastor, Rev. Alex Klages (2003-present): Rev. Kurt Schultz (2011-2012), Rev. Jeremy Richert (2012-2013), Rev. Milton Lam (2015-2016), Rev. Andrew McDonald (2016-2017), Rev. Lief Mauricio (2017-2018), Rev. Adam Chandler (2018-2019), and seminarian Nigel Prozenko (2021-2022).

There was also a photo slideshow including pictures from throughout Trinity’s history, which brought smiles and laughter as people fondly remembered events of years gone by.

It was a good occasion for the congregation (along with some members from its sister congregation, Zion Lutheran in Morden) to give thanks to God for His many blessings over the past years and also to look forward with excitement for what God still has in store for the future!

Rev. Alex Klages
